Wellness Wednesday offers opportunities to get together and discover ways to improve overall well-being.

Join us to review and discuss each chapter of the book Fat Talk – Parenting in the Age of Diet Culture by Virginia Sole-Smith. Despite the title, this book is for anyone who interacts with children, and even for those who have yet to heal from diet culture that began in their own childhood. Fat Talk is a deeply researched book that will help you and your children to learn new ways to think about food, bodies, and weight, and to help all of us work together to create a more weight inclusive world. This book will present the impacts of fat phobia and body shaming that kids face, including social, emotional, physical and mental health issues. We welcome teenagers to this discussion but recommend that parents read the book first and determine whether their children will benefit from participating in this discussion.

Discussion will be led by Gail Feldkamp, registered dietitian and Certified Eating Disorder Specialist.
